FAQs
What is the difference between the Crystal Head and Suction Probes?
The Luminous comes with 6 different microcrystal heads and suction probes.
Suction Probe
The suction probe can be used daily and is designed to increase blood circulation, encourage lymphatic drainage and stimulate natural collagen production. There are 3 different sizes of Suction Probes. Use the probe best suited to the surface area. Scroll below for further details.
Micro crystal Head
Used weekly, the micro crystal head effectively exfoliates to remove the build-up of dead skin which can otherwise lead to congestion, enlarged pores, and acne. Use the head best suited to the surface area. Scroll below for further details.
Note, if you are using a salon strength peel (such as AHA or BHA) post microdermabrasion, or you have an advanced cosmeceutical regime then limit the use of the micro-crystal head to monthly/fortnightly. Please refer to your individual skin-care product packaging or prescribed regime for correct usage and recommendations.
There are different sizes of the Suction Probe and Micro Crystal Head, when should I use each one?
There are 3 different sizes in both the Suction Probe and Micro Crystal Head. Each size is designed for different skin surfaces.
Large: The largest most powerful suction area. Best used on larger surface areas such as the forehead and jawline.
Middle: Suitable for most areas. Concentrate on the cheeks, nose, and décolletage.
Small: Unique in shape and designed for hard-to-get and delicate skin areas such as nose and mouth creases and under the eye or lip line.
How often should I use the Luminous?
The suction probe can be used daily and is designed to increase blood circulation, encourage lymphatic drainage and stimulate natural collagen production.
You can use the micro-crystal head for regular exfoliation once a week. However, if you are using it in conjunction with a salon strength peel (such as AHA or BHA) or advanced cosmeceutical regime then limiting use to monthly/fortnightly is recommended. Please refer to individual skin-care product packaging or regime for correct usage and recommendations.
Is it suitable for all skin types?
It is suitable for a wide range of skin types. However, we do not recommend use on the following skin types or conditions: barrier-impaired skin including dermatitis, rash, sensitised, eczema, fragile skin, active acne, rosacea/couperose, uncontrolled diabetes, or poor wound recovery. Never use it on broken skin.
Can you use Luminous if you have had Botox?
If you’ve just had Botox, give it two weeks to settle before using the microdermabrasion device. There are 3 powerful suction levels to choose from. Start with level 1 and only progress to the next level if you feel it is necessary.
How often should I charge the Luminous?
We recommend charging your Luminous device after every use for optimal life span.
What skincare is best to use with the Luminous?
One of the many benefits of the Luminous is that it exfoliates and removes the build-up of dead skin to aid the effective penetration of professional products. It elevates and enhances your at-home regime with your favorite skincare.
If you use it with a salon strength peel or advanced cosmeceutical regime, limiting use to monthly/fortnightly is recommended. Please refer to individual skin-care product packaging or prescribed regime for correct usage and recommendations.
